Gloria Herrera

Gloria was like the big sister I never had. Virg and Nio were two of my parents closest friends so I was blessed to grow up around her be her friend and for the time we shared She used to play barbies with me and dress up and teach me how to spanish dance ( I always thought she was beautiful when they preformed) and when I got to be a teenager shed pick me up in her GTO and away wed go on a wild ride! cruzing main listening to the radio scrape up enough change for a bottle of TJ Swan we laughed so much : ) she Made me feel like I was just as cool as her and she was Pretty dam cool! I was always so greatful she let me tag along. As life can sometimes be we all grow up and have family of our own and sometimes head in different directons so sadley we did not much adult time togather but I will always remember her how beautiful she was and how good she was to me.

John was reminding me they other day how once Gloria was sleeping over and the kids were told to go to bed. Well she decided she wasn't. He kept telling her to go to bed and she just stood there staring at him and she wouldn't budge. He told her so many times and threatened to spank her and she still kept staring with a dirty look. He finally gave up and he went to bed and she stayed up. She was a stubborn one! Lol

One of my memories is when Gloria was about Ten years old, she, Debbie and Nini make me a bithday cake. They were so proud of it and when they gave it to me they stood around just waiting for my approval. I think Gloria was the lead baker. I made a big deal on how pretty it was and how chocolate was my favorite frosting.  Unknown to me it had fallen in the center. When I went to cut it I discovered the middle was filled with peanut butter. I still remember how sticky it was. Lol.  That was real nice of them!!

Cute/Funny memories of my mama

1. She loved Lady Gaga
2. She would cook hamburger meat in the microwave (hahahaha)
3. She could put her mind to going on a "diet" and lose 15 pounds in a month
4. She went to Mexico by herself numerous times, without an agenda
5. The only time I remember my mom spanking me was when she found cigarettes in my Barbie case
6. My brother and I slept in her bed until we were both about 8 years old
7. She loved to give herself manicures and pedicures
8. She attended beauty school for a short time and would scare the neighbors by putting her mannequin in their windows at night
9. She loved to watch shows like 48 hours, Unsolved Mysteries and Maury
10. She was so blind that she LITERALLY could not see until she got her contacts in

My mom was the most beautiful woman I ever knew and ever will know. She taught me everything I needed to know in this life. She showed me love like I've never known before. She loved my brother and I more than anything in this world and she made sure we knew it, every day. I miss her so much every minute of every day. Sometimes it is hard to breathe without her, but then I feel her hug and for reasons that I still don't understand, a calmness falls over me. I know she is here with me. XOXO -Daughter
